Rugby Cubs

Switch Rugby Cubs is an exciting addition to the Switch Rugby family.

Rugby Cubs is aimed at children from 3 to 5 years old.

The aim of the sessions is to offer a fun, imaginative and well-structured play session for your child based around the skills of rugby.  All activities will be non-contact and look to develop co-ordination, communication and confidence in the Rugby Cubs.

The classes are split into age groupings, these are currently:

  • Pre-school 3 to 4 years of age,

  • Reception 4 to 5 years of age.

The younger age group sessions last 45 minutes with the children actively working for approximately 35-40 minutes.

The older group session lasts 55 minutes with the children actively working for approximately 45-50 minutes.

There is a 'half time' break in both sessions so please bring a drink and a snack for your rugby cub.

Each Rugby Cub will need to bring a grown up with them to help them with the session (teenage siblings, parents & grandparents would all cope with this activity).

Classes take place on Saturday mornings during term time.

  • At present the Pre-school and Reception Classes run together from 9-9:55am

TESTIMONIALS

My 3 year old daughter has loved learning how to play rugby with Matt. She has learnt lots of new physical skills but also been able to practise turn taking and listening to instructions. It’s really fun to spend time with her doing something new and we both look forward to our weekly sessions.

Nem - Rugby Cub Parent

Our three year old grandson has attended Rugby Cub sessions since they began and it has been a high spot of his day when we look after him. Matt plans appropriate and fun activities which develop rugby skills and cooperative play, not always easy with 3 and 4 year olds. Our grandson confidently talks about snake runs, cuddle catches and tagging and during lockdown he ‘became Matt the Coach’ and designed and led a session for his family in their garden. Matt has developed a great relationship with his young rugby players and they thoroughly enjoy his company reflected by the enthusiastic high fives at the end of the session. Thank you Matt.
